Personal Care at The London Care Group
Specialist Support for Autism, Learning Disabilities, ADHD & Complex Needs
At The London Care Group, personal care is not simply about helping with daily routines—it’s about creating safe, respectful, and empowering experiences that support individuals with Autism, Learning Disabilities (LD), ADHD, and complex care needs.
We deliver tailored personal care that recognises the whole person—honouring their communication style, sensory preferences, medical needs, emotional wellbeing, and right to choice.
Our Approach to Personal Care:
Specialist, Person-Centred Care: We support with bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and other personal care routines—adapted to each resident’s sensory, behavioural, and physical needs. Care is always delivered at a comfortable pace, with clear communication and consistent staffing.
Trauma-Informed & Neurodiversity-Aware: Our team is trained in trauma-informed practice and understands the unique challenges faced by people with autism, ADHD, and complex conditions. We use positive behaviour support (PBS) strategies, visual prompts, and structured routines to reduce distress and support engagement.
Complex Care & Health Management: We are experienced in supporting residents with complex care needs, including epilepsy, diabetes, mobility issues, PEG feeding, and dual diagnoses. Personal care includes managing continence, pressure care, and medication in a way that promotes dignity and minimises disruption.
Promoting Control and Independence: Even in complex situations, we encourage residents to participate in their care to the best of their ability—building independence, self-esteem, and life skills. Every step, no matter how small, is recognised and respected.
Family-Centred and Collaborative: We work closely with families, healthcare professionals, and social workers to ensure that personal care is consistent, safe, and meets all health and safeguarding requirements.
Safe, Predictable, and Flexible: Many of our residents benefit from structure and routine, and our care plans reflect this. At the same time, we remain flexible to individual moods, needs, and communication cues—prioritising emotional regulation and trust.
What it Matters:
For individuals with autism, learning disabilities, ADHD, and complex needs, personal care can be a vulnerable experience. That’s why we make it a respectful, empowering, and person-led process—never rushed, never clinical. Our aim is to preserve dignity, reduce anxiety, and build trust through consistent, high-quality care.
